Serichim srl

Serichim is a contract research and manufacturing organization (CRMO) focused on developing chemical synthetic methods and processes for fine chemicals, as well as biosimilars and biotechnological processes.

SERICHIM experts use production technologies such as flow chemistry, where a proprietary know-how has been patented, as well as gas phase reaction, thin film, batch, continuous fractional distillation, batch and continuous crystallization, flash chromatography, preparative HPLC, catalytic hydrogenation, and many other.

SERICHIM biotechnology department is embarking on a program of insulins, biosimilars and biologics incorporating microbiology, molecular biology, fermentation, and bioprocess engineering also for the coupling of chemistry to biocatalytic strategies.

SERICHIM, as CRMO, supports its customers from the conceptual development of the molecule up to the production of experimental chemicals from grams to hundred kilograms batches in absolute confidentiality.

SERICHIM, exploiting its analytical and processes know-how, can provide highly competent support to evaluate and find the most efficient technology to solve environmental problems.

SYNTHETIC ROUTE DISCOVERY AND SELECTION
For a new chemical entity and/or for an existing substance the choice of the "best" synthetic route is carefully evaluated at the very beginning of the project with a thorough feasibility study:

Likelihood of success related to the robustness of the chemistry selected
Availability, cheapness, number of suppliers for raw materials
Number of steps and ease of scale up
Selectivity.
Environmental impact and safety. The use of highly toxic raw materials and reagents, or the likelihood of explosion hazards during scale up, may make a route unattractive.
A balance of factors and the results of the first experiments are obtained and a reiterative evaluation of the route must be done.

Custom Synthesis
The SERICHIM lab offers pilot structures, which allow working up to a level of a few hundred liters in a large range of operative conditions.

Parallel Synthesis
Parallel synthesis is a strategy to optimize the time needed to identify a set of independent variables that satisfy given constraints and the time needed to prepare products with minor differences in their structures, using the same chemistry.
ANALYTICAL SERVICES
The analytical apparatuses available in SERICHIM allow its experienced analytical researchers to detect, quantify and isolate the entire spectrum of organic compounds.

Detection and quantitation are performed through chromatographic and spectroscopic technique (Mass Spectroscopy, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, FT- Infrared spectroscopy and UV spectroscopy), while isolation and purification of drug impurities can be obtained with preparative HPLC and flash chromatography.
CHEMICAL PROCESS DEVELOPMENT
SERICHIM operates the entire set of equipment for process development study and evaluation, including batch and continuous reactors, crystallization and filtering apparatuses, batch and continuous distillation columns and liquid-liquid extraction columns. Practically all common continuous operations can be operated at lab, bench and pilot scales.

ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH CONSULTANCY
SERICHIM environmental research services focuses its activities in the evaluation and modeling of in-situ or ex-situ remediation processes exploiting knowledge, skills and experience gained in decades of research on the optimization of industrial chemical processes.

SERICHIM staff engage in problem solving using analytical abilities and equipment in addition to standard analytical characterization.

The choice of technology to be used in the remediation process of soils and polluted aquifers first requires a comparative assessment of the best available and affordable processes, but also the validation through pilot tests to ensure to choose the most efficient result in accordance with an economically predictable and sustainable investment.
